November 2006 Newsletter
Candia Cub Scouts - Pack 120 - www.candiacubscouts.com/newsletters

Hello Pack 120. October was a busy month for us Popcorn Sales, Fall Camporee , Corn Maze, and various other Den activities. Hopefully everyone had fun and was able to experience just how much fun Cub Scouting can be. If you know of any of your friends who may be interested please bring them along to a Den or Pack meeting, you could earn a special Recruiter badge!

Our Popcorn sales was another big success this year, thank you to everyone who was able to participate in the important fund raising event. Prizes should be ready by our January Pack meeting. Please make a point of saying a BIG thank you to our “Popcorn Kernel”, Peggy Mun. Once again, Peggy coordinated, tracked, scheduled, and attended district meetings to help our Pack get the most out of this fund raiser. All of her hard work and efforts are truely appreciated!!!

The Boy Scout & Webelos Fall Camporee was fun for all. We had both great weather and an awesome showing by our Webelos . Our boys learned a lot about the Boy Scout Patrol Method, participated in the skills stations, watched a movie, had campfires, cooked and cleaned up after themselves! Our goal is to have our Webelos prepared to be Boy Scouts from the day they crossover into Boy Scouts.

Davis’ Mega Maze, corn maze was FANTASTIC! Great weather, fun, games, searching for clues, and friends. Too bad so few families took advantage of this great activity, you really missed out on a great day.

November Pack Meeting - Friday, November 17th, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Location: H.W. Moore School gymnasium, Candia
Theme of the Month: Knights in Shining Armor

Some of the purposes of Cub Scouting developed through this month’s theme include:
• Friendly Service. Chivalrous conduct was about friendly service to others. Boys can learn to practice chivalry in the 21st century.
• Good Citizenship. Cubs in shining armor will learn that as a knight they must be prepared to honor and defend their country

Scouting For Food - Saturday, November 11th, 9:00am - 11:00am
The 20th annual Scouting for Food “Community Good Turn” is once again planned for this fall throughout the Daniel Webster Council. The specific dates of this “Good Turn for America” activity include Saturday, November 11th (bag distribution day-Cub Scouts) and Saturday, November 18th (food collection day-Boy Scouts).

As you may realize, Scouting for Food continues to be one of the largest and most significant food collection campaigns in and about the State of New Hampshire, with more than 300,000 items of non-perishable food being collected annually by our members. The Scouting for Food Good Turn provides nearly 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks throughout the state with much needed food items to replenish their shelves, providing our members with a valuable experience of service to others.

Once again, the New Hampshire Army National Guard, will be supporting our service project efforts, along with Stop & Shop Supermarkets, as well as the New Hampshire Food Bank. NOTE: All food collected by our local food drive goes directly to our local food pantry.
Vertical Dreams- Saturday, November, 18th, 9:00am - 11:00am
This continues to be one of our most popular annual activities. If you’ve never been indoor rock climbing before you should make a point of checking out this activity. It’s safe, easy, and fun for EVERYONE. As always, bring the whole family along or ask a friend to join us!

Our group is expected at 9:00 am, please arrive a few minutes early.
Location: Vertical Dreams, Inc. , Waumbec Mill Building, 250 Commercial St., Manchester, NH 03101
website: http://www.verticaldreams.com/
Cost: $12 per person, $6 PER Cub Scouts.
Contact: For more information please contact Mr. Gilman, 483-8399

Pack Rechartering

If you haven’t done so already, please return the forms and payment by the requested date. Each year we need to redo out charter with the Daniel Webster Council and it’s can’t be done at a later date. No recharter would mean no Cub Scout program! Timeliness is of the utmost importants, thank you to everyone who has already returned their paperwork.

December Dates: Saturday, 9th - Pack Christmas Party / Pack Meeting
